Me and Ron got on the lake early, at daybreak, I had been having a lot of luck with the 3/8oz Hula Popper in an area we call the "Beaver Dam", just a log jam really, but lots of submerged weeds and logs in the water. We've both caught some nice Bass there, so we hit it first. The action was steady, but the fish were small and the strike was a little soft. Its summer time here in Alabama...90 at 9am, but it was overcast, the water was stained from an overnight rain, we moved out deeper and we both had good bites, decent fish at 6 feet, I had a Foxy Shad on, and Ron was throwing a Baby Bass. It slowed so we parked the boat, and grabbed a cool drink and Ron started throwing a Pumpkinseed worm around, and was catching fish from the bank, while I was sittin in the shade, he managed to catch 3 nice 4 pounders. So I grabbed my worm pole, tied on a 7in Zoom trick worm, motoroil/chartreuse. Made a few casts...Nothing there. Ron was gettin tore up down tne bank, so I walked past him, in the blazing sun, standing on the bank, made a nice cast, letting the worm sink, I grabbed my rag to wipe my face, and the worm never made it to the bottom, WHAM! she nailed it. I managed a good hook set, I could tell she was on...It was a chore keepin the fish in the water, she put on a nice show...But I had her hooked good in the jaw. Finally got her to the bank, and Ron hooked one too, "a Big-un" he said. It was a Bigun...Bigger than mine by 8 0z's. What a great day on the lake we call our honey hole...Miss Bev's...Going back tomorrow.

Definitely nothing to be ashamed of coming up 8oz short to a 9 lb'er. Some great looking fish right there for the both of you!
